Lab 3 is maintained to clean room standard and houses equipment for analysis and characterisation of optical and surface properties. The equipment includes an ellipsometer, laser measurement of surface roughness, a Quantum efficiency chamber and UV-IR-vis spectrophotometer. This laboratory is largely used for analysis of photovoltaic solar cells and wafers.

Quantum efficiency chamber for testing the response of solar cells under controlled spectra.
Perkin-Elmer Lambda 950 UV-Vis spectrophotometer, able to take whole solar cells (156 mm)
FTIR (Fourier Transform Infra Red Spectrometer) (Vertex 70) used for chemical characterisation,
